What is Professional Indemnity? Professional indemnity insurance, often referred to as professional liability insurance or PI insurance, covers legal costs and expenses incurred in your defence, as well as any damages or costs that may be awarded, if you are alleged to have provided inadequate advice, services or designs that cause your client to lose money.
What is Public Liability? Public liability insurance covers the cost of claims made by members of the public for incidents that occur in connection with your business activities. Public liability insurance covers the cost of compensation for: personal injuries. loss of or damage to property.
What is Employers’ Liability? Employers’ liability insurance protects you against the cost of compensation claims arising from employee illness or injury, sustained as a result of their work for you. It is a legal requirement if your business employs one or more people, each day without the cover bringing fines of up to £2,500.

What is subsidence? Subsidence is when foundations begin to sink due to movement of the surrounding earth
Why do I need non standard home insurance? Standard home insurers will not cover many situations, for example if you have a history of flooding – or just live in a flood risk area. Non standard insurers will offer you cover.
Why do I need to disclose a criminal conviction? Standard insurers will not cover any property where someone living in there has a criminal conviction.
Why do you need my properties rebuilding cost? Home insurance covers you for the rebuilding cost of your property and not the market value,
How do I calculate the rebuilding cost of my property? You can contact a property surveyor, or you can find calculators online – that will help you.
Why do I need a unoccupied property insurance policy? Standard home insurance does not cover an unoccupied property, it only covers you while you are away on holiday, not when the property is empty and not your main residence.
My garden has flooded but not my property, why is this classed as my property has flooded? During a flood, if the water has entered the boundary of your property – this is classed to an insurer that your property has flooded in the past, even if only your garden has flooded.

What is classed as a pre-existing medical condition? A pre-existing medical condition is usually classed as any medical condition for which medical advice, diagnosis or treatment was recommended. Many insurers have different definitions of a pre-existing condition. Generally, this is considered to be any past or current medical condition that has given rise to symptoms or which any form of treatment or prescribed medication, medical consultation, investigation or follow in a defined period prior to the commencement of the insurance.
Do I need to cover my pre-existing conditions? Medical costs abroad can be very expensive, therefore you should exercise caution if considering excluding cover for existing medical conditions.
What is an excess? An excess is the contribution you make towards the cost of your claim. For instance, if your claim is £1000, and your excess is £150, the insurer would pay you £850 in settlement of your claim.
When should I arrange my insurance? It is always beneficial to arrange insurance as soon as a holiday is booked, so that your money is protected. With a single trip, your cancellation cover starts as soon as you purchase your insurance. With an annual policy, the cancellation element starts on the date you indicate for the insurance to begin.
Does my insurance cover cruises? All insurers we work with insure cruise holidays. Some of these insurers offer specific cover unique to cruise holidays such as missed port cover & cabin confinement. Please speak with one of our advisors for more detail.
How do I contact my insurer to make a claim? Each policy document will be issued with the 24 emergency medical claim line details, along with a general claim line number for all other types of claims.
Are aspects such as volcanic ash & terrorism covered? Each insurer has different terms regarding adverse weather and natural catastrophe. Check your policy for further details. Terrorism is general market exclusion, and therefore little or no cover is available for this.
Am I covered for skiing and winter sports? This is not generally included as standard, however, can often be added for an additional premium.
I live in Spain. Can I get cover with you? Insurance Choice work with an insurer who can provide cover for residents of the EU. Please speak with one of our advisors for more details.
