What is Professional Indemnity? Professional indemnity insurance, often referred to as professional liability insurance or PI insurance, covers legal costs and expenses incurred in your defence, as well as any damages or costs that may be awarded, if you are alleged to have provided inadequate advice, services or designs that cause your client to lose money.
What is Public Liability? Public liability insurance covers the cost of claims made by members of the public for incidents that occur in connection with your business activities. Public liability insurance covers the cost of compensation for: personal injuries. loss of or damage to property.
What is Employers’ Liability? Employers’ liability insurance protects you against the cost of compensation claims arising from employee illness or injury, sustained as a result of their work for you. It is a legal requirement if your business employs one or more people, each day without the cover bringing fines of up to £2,500.

What is an excess? An excess is the contribution you make towards the cost of your claim. For instance, if your claim is £1000, and your excess is £150, the insurer would pay you £850 in settlement of your claim.

What is subsidence? Subsidence is when foundations begin to sink due to movement of the surrounding earth
Why do I need non standard home insurance? Standard home insurers will not cover many situations, for example if you have a history of flooding – or just live in a flood risk area. Non standard insurers will offer you cover.
Why do I need to disclose a criminal conviction? Standard insurers will not cover any property where someone living in there has a criminal conviction.
Why do you need my properties rebuilding cost? Home insurance covers you for the rebuilding cost of your property and not the market value,
How do I calculate the rebuilding cost of my property? You can contact a property surveyor, or you can find calculators online – that will help you.
Why do I need a unoccupied property insurance policy? Standard home insurance does not cover an unoccupied property, it only covers you while you are away on holiday, not when the property is empty and not your main residence.
My garden has flooded but not my property, why is this classed as my property has flooded? During a flood, if the water has entered the boundary of your property – this is classed to an insurer that your property has flooded in the past, even if only your garden has flooded.
