What is classed as a van?
The definition of a van in insurance terms is a vehicle which has been designed to carry goods and three passengers, we can arrange cover for vans up to 5 seats. The vehicle will weigh less than 3.5 tonnes. We can also cover Double cabs and Crew cabs, if your vehicle is over 3.5 tonnes you will need to get a quote from our truck section.
We can also cover refrigerated and tipper style vehicles.

What is Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW)?
When Insurance companies insure vans they will usually rate on the Gross Vehicle Weight of the vehicle.
The GVW of a vehicle is the weight of the vehicle plus carrying capacity of the vehicle when fully loaded for example ford transits can range from 2.5 tonne carrying capacity to 3.5 tonne carrying capacity depending on the model.
To find out the GWV of your vehicle you can check the logbook.
