Developed by the Government, the Child Trust Fund is a new and simple way to invest in UK shares, corporate bonds and cash for your child It aims to give every qualifying child a savings and investment account to provide them with a sum of money when they reach the age of 18. The Government will send a voucher to every child born on or after 1 September 2002. This voucher will be worth at least £250. A further £250 could be paid directly into the account if your family receives full child tax credit. In addition, friends and family can also invest up to a maximum of £1,200 each year.
