What is a Modification? Any change to a car, making it different from its factory settings to improve its performance, function or appearance is treated as a modification
Why do the Police seize vehicles? The Police seize vehicles to try and clamp down on Uninsured cars on the road.  The Police usually run various Operations throughout the Year where they Target Un-Insured drivers whilst either driving around on patrol or sitting parked somewhere and using specialist computers to log Reg numbers into a Database to see the current status of car.  You can also get your car seized for a number of other reasons including Invalid or Revoked driving Licences.
Why can’t I use standard insurance to collect my impounded car? Most insurer’s WILL NOT Insure you to get your car out of the Impound.  This is because there are specialist policies on the market to allow the release of a motor vehicle at competitive prices.  We offer a 30 day policy or a 365 day policy that will allow the release of your car.
What is a DR10 conviction? A DR10 conviction is where a driver is stopped by the Police and given a Breathalyzer Test to measure the amount of Alcohol in the system.

If you are above the legal limit you will “Usually” receive a DR10 endorsement on your licence.  This normally gives you a minimum of 12 months driving ban and a hefty fine.

I have a provisional driving licence, what happens when I pass my test? You would need to advise your Broker/Insurer straight away as this is a rating factor of the insurance policy.  This can also make a difference to the price of your Insurance.  You may find that the majority of time, the price actually goes up for the first year as insurer’s say you have a higher chance of having a claim in your first year of driving on your own.
Do I automatically get to Drive any other Car ? No ! ! You will need to read your Certificate of insurance to see if you have this extension on your Policy.  No one is guaranteed this cover ! ! Usually Under 25’s will NOT have this cover regardless.
How much will my Car insurance go down by with 1 years NCB ? I’m afraid this is hard question to answer.  Usually for your first year of Car insurance, 1 Years No claims bonus can get you 30-40% Discount but there are so many other rating factors that can affect your new years price.  The main one would be Insurer’s Increasing prices year on year . . This is something that “No-One” can predict and can be quite large Increases some years.  This is one of the main reasons why a Broker/insurer could not answer this question I’m afraid purely because we cannot predict the outcome.
What is “Black Box” Insurance ? This is mainly known as Telematics Insurance.  This normally is a Small Box that’s fitted to the car and will track the following:  Speed, Braking, General Driving Behaviour and Time you can use the car are the ones most Telematics Insurer’s will use.  The plus point of these policies are that it generally gives younger drivers the chance to insure a car at a reasonable/affordable price and to start earning No Claims Bonus to reduce the costs each year.
Can I Insure more than 1 car on a single policy ? Not normally . . You can however look to Insure 2 cars on 2 different policies with the option to “Mirror” your no claims bonus from the 1st car to the 2nd car.  There are certain criteria’s that need to be adhered to but this generally is the way forward for this.  Alternatively, you can potentially add a second car onto your existing car insurance for a couple of weeks for a small charge.
What happens if I modify my Car ? The advise I would give out here is before going ahead and Modifying the car, get an Insurance Quote from your existing insurer or a new quote with another insurer.  Too many customers think its ok to change the wheels of there car and think it’s going to be fine with there insurer.  Most Insurer’s DO NOT Insure Modifications ! ! Once you have had a price and it’s affordable then go ahead and get it done but remember to make sure you let any NEW Insurer know of the changes to your car for future prices.
Can I still get Car Insurance if I have a Criminal Conviction ? Yes you can with us . . we have a Range of Insurer’s on our Panel who will allow us to Insure a driver who has criminal convictions.  Most prices you see on aggregator sites will not know or ask about Criminal convictions and they may not even cover them so it’s best to speak to someone and actually make them aware you have a conviction so in the event of a claim they will know all the facts about you and the policy.

What is classed as a pre-existing medical condition? A pre-existing medical condition is usually classed as any medical condition for which medical advice, diagnosis or treatment was recommended. Many insurers have different definitions of a pre-existing condition. Generally, this is considered to be any past or current medical condition that has given rise to symptoms or which any form of treatment or prescribed medication, medical consultation, investigation or follow in a defined period prior to the commencement of the insurance.
Do I need to cover my pre-existing conditions? Medical costs abroad can be very expensive, therefore you should exercise caution if considering excluding cover for existing medical conditions.
What is an excess? An excess is the contribution you make towards the cost of your claim. For instance, if your claim is £1000, and your excess is £150, the insurer would pay you £850 in settlement of your claim.
When should I arrange my insurance? It is always beneficial to arrange insurance as soon as a holiday is booked, so that your money is protected. With a single trip, your cancellation cover starts as soon as you purchase your insurance. With an annual policy, the cancellation element starts on the date you indicate for the insurance to begin.
Does my insurance cover cruises? All insurers we work with insure cruise holidays. Some of these insurers offer specific cover unique to cruise holidays such as missed port cover & cabin confinement. Please speak with one of our advisors for more detail.
How do I contact my insurer to make a claim? Each policy document will be issued with the 24 emergency medical claim line details, along with a general claim line number for all other types of claims.
Are aspects such as volcanic ash & terrorism covered? Each insurer has different terms regarding adverse weather and natural catastrophe. Check your policy for further details. Terrorism is general market exclusion, and therefore little or no cover is available for this.
Am I covered for skiing and winter sports? This is not generally included as standard, however, can often be added for an additional premium.
I live in Spain. Can I get cover with you? Insurance Choice work with an insurer who can provide cover for residents of the EU. Please speak with one of our advisors for more details.
